“The program offers a solid mix of textbook work combined with real life context,” Austin, who is now the director of operations at Flanagan Foodservice, the largest Canadian owned, independent foodservice distributor in the country, says of Sheridan’s project management certificate. “The online program is structured in such a way that from day one you’re learning the concepts, their history and their application and then putting them to practical use.”

Designed to meet the professional development needs of experienced project managers and novice professionals new to project management, the offering, which can also be completed through evening classes, covers key areas of project management such as human resources, communication, time integration, cost, quality and risk procurement.

“The instructors were highly knowledgeable subject matter experts with real life work experience,” says Austin. “They were able to bring the concepts and material to life with examples and practical applications that a wide range of individuals would benefit from.”

Despite taking the offering online, Austin says Sheridan’s program design still allows for a mix of independent study and group work that uses skills that are completely transferable to the real world.
