Transfers, Refunds, and Withdrawals

Transfers

On-Campus TRANSFERS For Full-Term Courses (10 – 14 weeks) You can transfer from one course to another by sending your request to the Opportunity Centre at caps@sheridancollege.ca before the 3rd scheduled class. As long as space is available in the new course, you can be transferred.

If there is a fee difference between the two courses, the difference will be calculated and you will be advised if you owe or are owed fees.

Note: This is stated as a general rule, however, the policy varies from course to course.

Withdrawals & Refunds

If you need to withdraw from a Continuing and Professional Studies course, please complete this form. If you don’t officially withdraw from your course, a grade of 'NE' (credit not earned) will go on your transcript. NE indicates failure to attend, complete or properly withdraw from a course and reflects poorly on your transcript.

Officially withdrawing from an on campus course is slightly different than withdrawal from an online course. Please read below to know what to expect if you need to withdraw from a course in either environment.

For some courses, there are special withdrawal policies. Course-specific withdrawal policies are outlined in the course information.

Note: The policies listed below are for domestic students only.

Material Fees: Material fees are non-refundable if you withdraw on or after the day of the course start date.

Refunds are issued by EMT (electronic money transfer) and credit card payments will be refunded to the original credit card. Please allow 4-6 weeks for refund processing.

Please Note: Special refund policies applicable to certain programs are shown in the program or course information. In many cases, the withdrawal charge will be higher and more notice is required.

Withdrawal Due to Extenuating Circumstances

If you are hospitalized or unable to finish the course due to extenuating circumstances (family death or medical reasons), please submit your written notice to caps@sheridancollege.ca. Your will receive further instructions regarding documentation requirements, which will then be evaluated for a partial refund. Please note that under these circumstances, academic reference will be removed from your transcript.

*Medical reasons or conditions for withdrawal must be documented by a medical professional. The documentation must receive final approval from Sheridan College. The application for a medical withdrawal must be received by Sheridan College within 5 days from the occurrence of the medical condition that prevented you from finishing the course. You must also state that it has not been possible for you to go to work in the claim period and be prepared to submit verification documentation to that effect, if considered necessary.

Course Cancellations and Full Courses

If Sheridan cancels your course, you can transfer to another course or receive a full refund. Either way, you will be contacted by phone or email to inform you if your course has been cancelled and to discuss your options.

When a class is full, the student has the option to add themselves to the waiting list by clicking the "add to waiting list" link. If a seat opens, a staff member will contact the student to complete their registration. This will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis. The student also has the option to remove themselves from the waiting list by clicking on the "My Waiting List View".
