Program Description

If you work in the law enforcement field or with at-risk individuals, understanding criminal behaviour is vital to help better assist the people you are working with. In this online program you’ll explore why individuals become criminals and the kind of people who are attracted to deviant behaviour in order to pursue or advance in a career in corrections, criminology or mentoring program.

You will delve into a wide range of topics—psychopathic and criminal minds, sexual violence, cults and terrorism as well as addiction. Sheridan's Criminal Psychology and Behaviour Recognition of Achievement is designed to give you the latest skills and techniques in dealing with law and at risk behavior in your daily work life.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Study how and why some individuals become criminals and how some become killers 
  • Distinguish between serial killers, stalkers, and other criminal types 
  • Understand the latest criminal profiling techniques 
  • Examine psychological models related to criminology 
  • Utilize conflict resolution strategies to reduce violent behaviour incidents 
  • Review and examine the personalities of addiction

Previous Experience Requirement

This program is geared towards individuals already within the law enforcement, legal environment, or who work with at-risk individuals. This program is not designed as an introductory program to Criminal Psychology and Behaviour. Further, it is recommended students complete a college-level psychology course prior to beginning this program.
