RPN Safe Practice Completion (CRPNS) Information

Image Practicing as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Ontario is a rewarding experience and a profession that is growing. Job prospects are strong and nurses practice in a wide variety of community, homecare, and hospital settings.

If you have trained as a nurse previously, in Ontario, Canada, or globally, and you have a CNO letter stating your evidence of nursing practice has expired, this program is for you!

Program Delivery

This program is held via online (asynchronous) and on-campus (synchronous) delivery. Students will be made known of their on-campus classes after admission to the program. 

What are Micro-Credentials? 

Micro-Credentials certify an individual’s achievements in specific skill sets and differ from traditional credentials, such as degrees or diplomas. They are shorter, personalized, and enables employment in specific roles. At the end of this program, you will receive an official document credential from Sheridan Continuing & Professional Studies. 

Program Description

Do you have a College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) letter that states “Your evidence of nursing practice has expired”? Trained as a nurse internationally and don't have a CNO applicaiton number or letter? Let us help with Sheridan's RPN Safe Practice Completion program. We'll help you navigate the Ontario nursing practice and education landscape! 
 
At Sheridan, we welcome both Internationally Educated Nurses and those trained here in Canada to study with us to complete the additional nursing education required to become registered as an RPN and practice in Ontario.
 
This program is a unqiue two-term admission based academic program. The terms are split between practical learning and a community-based learning experience, both designed to help students achieve the requirements outlined in the College of Nurses of Ontario. Courses are taken as a set pathway to ensure you gain the knowledge, skills, and competencies you need to register with the CNO and thrive in the Ontario nursing workforce. A more detailed program pathway is outlined below. 

Admission-Based Program

This is an admission-based program. These courses are restricted to students with a CNO Letter of Assessment and / or Program Coordinator approval. 
 
The first term (term 1) will include:
  • NURS70515 Professional Practice in Ontario for Registered Practical Nurses
  • NURS70516 Partnering with Vulnerable Populations
  • NURS70517 Nursing Therapeutics 
  • NURS70518 Nursing Practice Lab
  • NURS70519 Simulation Learning - Nursing Therapeutics and Patient Safety
The second term (term 2) will include:
  • NURS70520 Preceptored Clinical Practicum (400 hours) 

Fall 2023 Fees & Material Fees

For our Fall 2023 term starting in September, students will have the opportunity to pay for the first semester in installments. The installments are as follows:

September 5th, 2023 10% of fee
September 22nd, 2023 40% of fee
October 6th, 2023 25% of fee
October 27th, 2023 Remaining balance

There is a non-refundable material fee of $141.26 embedded into the tuition of the program. This is non-refundalbe after the first day of the program.
