Acces Employment Bridging Programs (CACES) Information

Sheridan is proud to partner with ACCES Employment, a non-profit organization that supports internationally-trained professionals to start their career in Canada.
 

Additional Information

Human Resources Connectionshelps internationally trained human resources professionals to find work in Canada. This 7-week program provides you with training that is current and relevant to Canadian workplaces. It builds on your previous human resources expertise by providing an orientation to your sector in Canada. The program is in partnership with HRPA and Sheridan College. 

Program Content: 

  • Orientation to the Human Resources sector in Canada  

  • Sector Specific Job Search – HR Resume, Mock Interview, Job Search Techniques, Social Media  

  • Referrals to job openings and connections to employers  

  • Access to mentors who are professionals in your field  

  • Recruitment, networking, and guest speaker events  

  • Academic training provided by Sheridan College  

  • Business and workplace communication training in a Canadian context  

  • CKE 1, CKE 2 and Employment Law preparation workshop  

  • Post Hire Support – Job Retention, Business Communication/Language Coach, HR Sector Coach  

Program Fee: $500 + HST ($565.00), which is eligible for the Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program (OBPAP) bursary.

Supply Chain Connections helps internationally trained supply chain professionals to find work in Canada. This 6-week program provides you with training that is current and relevant to Canadian workplaces. It builds on your previous supply chain expertise by providing an orientation to your sector in Canada. The program is in partnership with Sheridan College. 

Program Content: 

  • Job Search: Targeted Resume, Mock Interview, Networking, Social Media, Mentoring, Business Communication 

  • Canadian Context – Supply Chain Academic Training: Operations Management, Demand Planning, International Trade, Procurement and Sourcing, Inventory and Warehousing, Database Management, Canadian Customs, Shipping and Transportation; Certificate from Sheridan College 

  • PMP Exam Prep Boot Camp (optional): 35 hours of instruction; 500 sample exam questions with answers; mock exam; 35 PDUs (Professional Development Units) towards PMP designation 

  • Job Development: Job Search Coaching, Job Leads, Guest Speakers, Networking Events, Business Panel Events 

  • Post Hiring Support: Communications Coaching, Sector Coaching, Retention Support 

Program Fee: $500 + HST ($565.00), which is eligible for the Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program (OBPAP) bursary.

Cloud Computing Connections is a 6-week sector-specific bridging program offered in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Sheridan College. In this program, we invite you to learn from the experts at AWS to advance your knowledge with practical skills so you can be more efficient using the AWS Cloud. The objective of this program is to assist you to leverage your fundamental IT skills and institutional knowledge to transition and succeed in Cloud roles. By training directly with AWS, you will be learning from AWS experts who are delivering current and up-to-date content. 

Additionally, this program provides an opportunity for you to put theory into practice through a hands-on approach in which you, alongside other IT teammates, will solve real-world Cloud Computing challenges that will prepare you for your credential exam as well as equip you with Canadian references. 

Sheridan College will provide workplace communications training specific to digital work. They will work alongside AWS to co-facilitate opportunities for participants to position their skills and value in the sector. 

Program Content: 

  • Acquire practical skills through practice sessions using AWS features and services, while simultaneously learning how to apply these skills to your use case. 

  • Benefit from accredited AWS instructors (with extensive technical expertise) and learn from content that is frequently updated to keep pace with ongoing AWS innovations. 

  • Receive extensive support as you prepare for your certification exam (AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified Developer – Associate) 

  • Obtain an AWS exam voucher (to cover the examination cost) 

  • Be exposed to real IT projects to acquire hands-on learning 

  • Become affiliated with Sheridan College and Amazon Web Services (through your participation in this program) 

  • Receive access to a wide range of mentoring and coaching opportunities 

  • Attain connections with hiring managers 

Program Fee: $400 + HST ($452.00), which is eligible for the Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program (OBPAP) bursary.

Microsoft Skills for Employability is a 6-week sector-specific bridging program offered in partnership with Microsoft and Sheridan College. The Microsoft Skills for Employability program supports participants, regardless of the extent of their IT background, through an opportunity to upskill or secure alternative employment if they had lost employment due to COVID-19. The program will do this by providing attendees with the knowledge necessary to obtain a Microsoft certified designation while focusing on career growth and advancement. 

This hands-on programming will allow program participants to enhance their digital knowledge by selecting one of three Microsoft certification pathways: IT Administrator, Data Analytics, or Software Developer. Participants will be supported to successfully undergo learning and achieve the relevant certification through a range of coaching and mentoring opportunities. 

Sheridan College will provide workplace communications training specific to digital work. They will work alongside Microsoft and other technology partners to co-facilitate opportunities for participants to position their skills and value in the sector. 

Program Content: 

  • The program offers seamless access to Microsoft certifications and focuses on helping job seekers secure employment during challenging economic times. 

  • Participants will receive customized employment services including personal branding, networking, interviewing, and social media profiling to strengthen their marketability. 

  • This program is informed by employers who participate in program delivery. 

  • Participants receive access to Speed Mentoring® events and benefit from guest speakers and industry insights. 

  • Participants obtain a range of Future Skills / in-demand professional soft skills that are sought by employers and promote career advancement. 

  • Participants are provided with opportunities to work collaboratively and creatively together to develop leadership skills and insights regarding workplace culture and platform-based labour market attachment. 

  • Participants achieve digital transformation through virtual collaboration tools. 

  • Participants receive customized training from post-hire sector and language coaches to support employment retention and career progression.
