Program Description

Complex buildings require trained solutions. Welcome to Sheridan's Building Environmental Systems - Class 1 Certificate program! By learning from experienced industry experts, you will understand how to successfully manage and maintain buildings in any sector.

You will have the skills to operate and handle heating systems, air conditioning and refrigeration units, electrical systems as well as air handling, preventive and corrective maintenance, and water treatment programs.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Understand the main components of a building 
  • Develop knowledge and experience in electrical controls, system controls, air-handling units, and more 
  • Perform calculations in relation to temperature, heat, and more 
  • Explain rules, regulations, and procedures in relation to the safe operation of equipment 
  • Identify indoor air quality issues 
  • Understand energy efficient buildings and how to address them

Textbook Requirements

As of Winter 2025 term, e-textbooks will be included in the course fee for ALL BES courses. Students will no longer need to purchase materials through the Seneca bookstore. All required materials are included with the course.
