  • Chemistry - develop foundational chemistry knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Math - strengthen the mathematical skills required for further nursing education.

Career & Practical Outcomes

Successful completion of the four pathway courses, with the required grades and admission requirements, provides an academic pathway toward Sheridan’s Practical Nursing diploma program.

Delivery Format & Schedule

These are virtual synchronous classes. Each course is 42 hours in length for a 14 week duration.

Admission Requirements

  1. Completed an Ontario Public College Personal Support Worker (PSW) program. At this time, degrees or diplomas from private colleges are not accepted.
  2. A minimum GPA of 3.4 from an Ontario Public College
  3. A minimum grade of 60% in a College level English course
Applicants who completed their PSW credential through a private career college are currently not eligible for this pathway. Students with a PSW certificate from a private college are encouraged to contact capsadmissions@sheridancollege.ca for other pathway options. Admission requirements are subject to change.

Programming Notes & Requirements

Students must successfully complete all four pathway courses. Courses are intended to be completed together. A minimum final grade of 65% in each pathway course is required to meet the academic requirements for admission into the full-time Practical Nursing program. Completion of the pathway does not replace any additional admission requirements that may apply to the Practical Nursing program. The PSW pathway course credits cannot be transferred from another institution.

Tuition & Fees

Tuition is charged per course, as opposed to per program. The cost of textbooks is not included in the course fees. Any textbook requirements will be listed in the course outline. You can buy textbooks from the online Sheridan Campus Store.
