Program Description

Sheridan’s Property Management Certificate of Completion is designed for individuals looking to build or advance a career in residential property management. 

Through a practical and industry-focused curriculum, students will develop the knowledge needed to manage property operations, support tenants, coordinate maintenance activities, oversee financial performance, and navigate Ontario tenancy legislation.

Developed in partnership with The Institute of Housing Management (IHM), this certificate combines operational, legal, financial, and leadership competencies that are essential for today's property management professionals. Students will gain practical insight into tenant relations, maintenance planning, budgeting, risk management, human resources, and regulatory compliance while building the skills required to support safe, efficient, and well-managed residential communities. 

Successful completion of this credential may be applied towards the accreditation requirements through the IHM.

Who Is This Program For?

This program is ideal for those seeking to enter the property management profession, maintenance professionals looking to expand into management roles, tenant service professionals, property owners, and more. No previous property management experience is required. 

What You'll Learn

By the end of this program, students will be able to:
  • Administer day-to-day property management operations
  • Interpret Ontario tenancy legislation 
  • Develop tenant conflict resolution solutions
  • Plan and manage building maintenance budgets 
  • Create operating and maintenance budgets 
  • Support safe and sustainable residential communities 

Career & Practical Outcomes

Graduates of this credential will be prepared for roles such as Property Administrator, Property Coordinator, Assistant Property Manager, Leading Coordinator, Condominium Administrator, and more.

Delivery Format & Schedule

This program is a mixture of online asynchronous and live virtual classes. Each mandatory class is 39 hours in length for a 13 week duration. Elective course durations may vary. 

The required introductory course is MGMT70411 Property & Building Administration

Programming Notes & Requirements

This program can assist students with obtaining their Institute of Housing Management (IHM) Accreditation. This accreditation is awarded by the IHM. The requirements for accreditation are set by the IHM. Please review accreditation requirements found here

A minimum passing grade of 60% is required by the IHM for mandatory courses. 

Tuition & Fees

Tuition is charged per course, as opposed to per program. The cost of textbooks is not included in the course fees. Any textbook requirements will be listed in the course outline, You can buy textbooks from the online Sheridan Campus Store.
