Sheridan's Veterinary Office Administration Recognition of Achievement is a great fundamental office administration program designed to help individuals break into the veterinary field. Be prepared to work in a variety of veterinary settings, and support animals by providing excellent care.

This is a part-time program and is delivered via online (asynchronous) delivery. 

Program Description

If you have a love for our four-legged friends, then a rewarding career in veterinary office administration may be for you. With Sheridan's Veterinary Office Administration Recognition of Achievement program, you'll learn to organize the day-to-day operations and participate in the veterinary medical field. Put your love of animals to use by helping our vulnerable pets!

This program will help you become familiar with the practical processes of office administration, as well as key concepts for work in veterinary care, including animal husbandry, pharmacology, surgical procedures, laboratory procedures, and more. Our courses are taught by experienced professionals who know the industry and can provide practical guidance to help students achieve success in the working world.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Identify and describe unique physical and anatomical characteristics of dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits
  • Understand the basic principles of nutrition 
  • Utilize basic cleaning and disinfecting protocols for veterinary care 
  • Outline the collection and preparation of samples for laboratory tests
  • Identify pieces of basic laboratory and examination room equipment 
  • Describe the most commonly prescribed veterinary drugs 
  • and more!

It is recommended students have proficiency in standard office-related computer skills, such as Word and Excel, prior to beginning this program. For support, our Microsoft Office Applications courses are available to aid students in obtaining this skill level.
