Virtual Production (VP) is a rapidly growing area that capitalizes on evolving technology. By combining CGI, game-engines, and virtual reality technologies, VP enables completely new ways of making film and TV. The creative possibilities are endless – from digital filmmaking, blending physical sets with digital assets and environments, to LED hardware operation and configuration of virtual production solutions. VP techniques impact many core disciplines within filmmaking including cinematography, production design, visual effects (VFX), animation, directing and many more. Sheridan’s Virtual Production: Unreal Engine On-set Technician will introduce you to the core technical and filmmaking skills required to work on a VP project using an LED stage driven by Unreal Engine. Central to developing an understanding of how to work on a virtual production is access to an LED stage and on-set training, combined with the core skills and knowledge required to work as a member of a virtual production team. This micro-credential offers both theoretical and practical opportunities for learning delivered through weekly online seminars and hands-on workshops at the Sheridan Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT), Stage 10 Pinewood Toronto Studios.
