ECE Leadership Micro-Credential (CECEL) Information

Image Sheridan's Early Childhood Education Leadership Micro-Credential Program provides key instructional practices for current leaders and aspiring leaders seeking to learn more about management, administration, and leadership within early childhood education and care settings. This program is ideal for learners interested in becoming progressive leaders within the early childhood sector. Learners who complete the program will gain evidence-based, best-practice knowledge and skills related to leadership, professionalism, collaboration, and advocacy responsibilities.

Program Description

By the end of this program, learners will be able to apply the principles of leadership and management relevant to early childhood settings, develop a mentoring and coaching mindset as a professional administrator, and enhance their critical reflective practice for collaborating with others.

This program will discuss topics such as budgeting, payroll, marketing, human resources, coaching and mentoring, advocacy, and social justice in early childhood settings. The seminar course will offer learners an opportunity to collaborate and network with each other, while developing their leadership skills. Knowledge, skill, and value acquisition will come from a variety of assignments, discussions, and presentations.

Program Delivery

This Micro-credential Program will include 6 courses: learners must complete 4 courses to obtain the credential. Each course will be approximately 42 hours in length, taking place over 12 to 14 weeks. The mode of delivery includes a blend of self-directed, self-paced learning along with some synchronous virtual classes. The seminar course will provide an opportunity for some in-person classes.
