Congratulations to our 2020 CAPS Graduates

4 Nov 2020

November 4th marked the 2020 Continuing and Professional Studies Convocation ceremony! While we were disappointed to not be able to celebrate in person, we were extremely honoured to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students.

The 30-minute virtual ceremony opened with remarks from Sheridan's President Dr. Janet Morrison, acknowledging the importance of convocation and celebrating the collective achievements of our students, especially within our present circumstances. CAPS Executive Director Nazlin Hirji gave warm regards, recognizing the resilience and dedication of CAPS students, and introducing our CAPS Valedictorian.

Tricia McLelland Convocation Image

Tricia McLelland, our 2020 CAPS Valedictorian, is a graduate from the Digital Photography Certificate program. Coming from the corporate world, the Digital Photography program helped Tricia successfully shape a potential 'hobby' into a full-fledged successful second career. Now, Tricia spends her days capturing the precious intimate moments of life, with her thriving family and newborn photography business. Tricia had these remarks to say about her time with Sheridan CAPS:

"For what I learned here at Sheridan College has changed my life forever. Before I started my own business, I was working a typical desk job but I knew something was missing for me. I knew I needed more. It was through the support from Sheridan College, my instructors, through hard work and dedication, I was able to turn my hobby into a career."

Tricia's creative work and story exemplify the importance of continuing education. We can't wait to see how she continues to transform her community. Congratulations, Tricia!
