Teaching adults is not the same as teaching children. With a Certificate in Adult Education from Sheridan, you’ll have the background theory and practical skills to be a successful and effective adult educator. This adult education program is designed for people who aspire to teach in a postsecondary, corporate or community training environment as well as those already working in the field.

Upon completion of this program, you’ll be able to design, implement and evaluate educational and training courses for adult learners. The framework of this program focuses on adult learning principles “in action”, not just theory. The goal of this program is to help you:
-  Enhance the quality of the teaching and learning process
-  Develop the mandatory knowledge, skills and professional values of an adult educator
-  Expand learning pathways to pave the way for future learning
-  Establish a “critically reflective” view as both a teacher and a learner
-  Create a positive adult learning environment

This program is recognized by Brock University, which means upon completion of your Certificate, you can apply to the undergraduate degree program at Brock University and receive two general university credits towards your studies.

Sheridan's Adult Education certificate along with industry experience, enables you to become a candidate for either the Certified Training Practitioner (CTP) and Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) designation. Please refer to the I4PL website for additional information http://www.cstd.ca/.
