Microsoft Office Applications

Sheridan Certificate

NOTE: As of Fall 2020, this program is in the process of being phased out. Students pursuing this credential will have until the end of the Fall 2022 term to complete program requirements.

Students will still be able to complete Microsoft Office related courses as part of our Microsoft Office Applications-Professional Development Courses program.

Transition from Microsoft Office 2016 to Microsoft Office 2019

Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS) will be moving from the Microsoft Office 2016 textbooks to the textbooks designed for Office 2019 in the coming year.

The version of Microsoft Office that we use is actually Microsoft Office 365 which continually updates itself, but the textbooks from our publisher will be changed.

The transition will begin with all of the Intro courses (including PowerPoint) for the Fall 2020 semester. The Advanced courses will transition the following semester, Winter 2021. We are phasing the changes in this way so that students who begin the Intro Courses in the Spring 2020 semester will be able to complete the Advanced in the Fall 2020 semester without having to purchase another textbook for that application.

The SAM Licences will change with the transition to the new textbooks.

Program Pathway for Discontinuation

See the Program Description tab for a helpful chart to help students plan accordingly. We will be scheduling courses within the Microsoft Office Applications program until the end of the Fall 2022 term to give everyone the opportunity to complete this certificate.
