Successfully complete the 4 (four) technical courses approved by the Supply Chain Management Association Ontario (SCMA-O). These courses satisfy the technical course requirement for the Supply Management Training (SMT) program offered through SCMA-O.

Note:

  • If you are pursuing the SMT Certificate, a total grade of 60% is the required passing grade for each technical course; students must also attain a minimum of 60% on the final exam to pass.  

Courses can be taken in any order but it is recommended to take MATM70005 SMT - Logistics last.

These courses are part of the Supply Chain Management Association - Ontario (SCMAO) Program.

ON-CAMPUS DELIVERY

After completion of the required Supply Management Training (SMT) courses and seminars, and with 1 year working experience in the field, you can apply for your certificate directly with the Supply Chain Management Association Ontario (SCMA-O), formerly known as the Ontario Institute of Purchasing Management Association of Canada (OIPMAC).  There are no pre-requisites.  The certificate requirements comprise the following 4 courses which do not need to be taken in any particular order:

  • Four 13-week Technical Courses offered with the Faculty of Continuing and Professional Studies: SMT - Procurement, SMT - Logistics, SMT - Transportation, SMT - Operations                                             
  • Three 2-day Soft Skills Seminars: SMT - Communication, SMT - Negotiation, SMT - Contract Law - offered at SCMA-O only                          
  • Three 2-day Business Management Seminars: SMT - Accounting and Finance, SMT - Marketing, SMT - Business Planning (these three are eligible for prior learning exemption).  

Students have 2 options to receive credits for the Business Management Knowledge component:

  • Complete the seminars offered by SCMA-O (listed above) or   
  • Complete a full credit course at a Canadian Accredited College or University covering the Business Management Knowledge objectives.

A course textbook and participant manual are both required for each course. Upon registration, students will receive instructions directly from SCMA-O on how to download the participant manual from their site. Students can purchase the textbook from the Sheridan bookstore.
