Program Description
Whether you are already in the biz and thinking about branching out on your own or are simply ready to take your writing and storytelling skills to new heights, Sheridan’s Social Media Writing Recognition of Achievement digital media-focused courses will help you nurture your talents.
Our courses are designed to help you better understand how to promote yourself on the web. Communicating online is vastly different than in-person – learn the fundamentals of promoting yourself, your business, or your blog to the world. Our introductory Blogging class is designed to help give your ideas out of your head and onto the blogging platform of your choosing. Our Strategies for Social Media course is designed to take your online communication to the next level by expanding your reach, your network, and your audience. Finally, our Wordsmithing course will allow you to hone your writing skills in the digital media field by expanding your writing platform to the various media outlets that are available on the web.
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of a blog and it's origins and history
- Identify various blogging tools available
- Understand USP's and methods of differentiating your blog
- Create a content plan for your writing
- Create a basic social media strategy
- Describe the role of social media in modern communication
- Calculate return on investment of social media
- Optimize content for search engines
- Write marketable material in a variety of different online formats

There is no recommended program pathway and students are welcome to enter the program with any course.
Social Media Capabilities Note
These are not introductory social media courses. Students should be familiar with basic Social Media platforms to participate (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more).
