If you’re looking to start a career as an Insurance Broker, Sheridan has you covered. After completing this licensing course, you’ll be prepared to write the RIBO Level 1 (Under Supervision) exam. You do not need to be employed at a brokerage firm to take the course or write the exam. However, 12 months after passing the exam, you must be working at a general RIBO insurance brokerage firm to be eligible for licensing. See, Sheridan's providing you with the knowledge you need already!

For information on a career as an Insurance Broker, visit:
• Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario: http://www.ribo.com/
• Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario: http://www.ibao.org/

IBAO (Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario) provides a one-day basic Broker Orientation Day to get familiar with the course. This is highly recommended prior to enrolling in the Sheridan course. For more information on the Basic Broker Orientation Day, contact IBAO at rnguyen@ibao.on.ca  and indicate you were referred from Sheridan.

In addition to your Sheridan registration and tuition, you are also required to register with the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) using the RIBO Prep Kit order form to receive your course materials and exam registration package ($250* plus tax). The preference is for completed forms to be emailed to Rebecca Nguyen, rnguyen@ibao.on.ca for processing. You may also, however, fax to the number at the bottom of the form or if paying by cheque or money order, send to the address at the bottom of the form. A payment must be included with the completed form or it will not be processed.

Registration for the RIBO exam happens within the first few weeks of class. You will be required to provide the following when you register for the exam:
• A cheque or money order for $180 (payable to Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario)
• Two recent passport-sized photographs
• Criminal Record Verification (available from your local police department)

Additional details will be provided in the first class.
* Subject to change without notice.

Be prepared for success. Enrol now.

RIBO – Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario – is a self-governing, self-supporting organization of general insurance brokers in Ontario. Obtaining your RIBO Level 1 License allows you to sell Habitational (personal and commercial) Insurance Coverages, Auto Insurance Coverages, Travel Insurance, and Liability Coverages.

You do not need a sponsor to take the licensing course or to do the exam; however, you are required to find employment within the first 12 months of passing the exam to maintain your license. The RIBO Level 1 License is a supervised license, therefore you must work in a brokerage.
